Twelve years of visiting the same workshops.
KIOKO began as a notebook — Erik's, actually, during a 2014 residency in Kyoto. Sketches of ceramic bowls from a third-generation potter in Hasami. A linen throw from a 90-year-old mill outside the city. A wooden tray from a workshop with one employee (the owner).
Twelve years later, we work with 18 of those same makers. Some have grown. Most haven't. All of them answer the phone when we call.
Naoko runs the Kyoto studio. Erik runs the Copenhagen office. Between the two of us, we ship to 42 countries — directly, no agents, no trading floors. You speak with us. Always.
